Fuel filter replacement

Engine with fuel injection system

1. Remove the negative terminal from the battery.

2. Place wedges under the front wheels and raise the rear of the vehicle.

3. Install a suitable container under the fuel filter.

4. To relieve pressure in the fuel system, slowly loosen the coupling connecting the inlet or outlet hose to the filter. After depressurizing the system, completely unscrew the fuel hoses from the filter.



5. Unscrew the mounting bolt (indicated by an arrow) filter and remove the fuel filter.

Diesel engine

Removing water from the fuel filter

Attention! If diesel fuel gets on the hoses, wipe them immediately.

1. Place an appropriate container under the fuel filter water drain plug.



2. Loosen drain plug (arrow) and drain about 100 dm³ of the mixture of fuel with water and after the appearance of clean fuel, screw the plug.


3. If fuel does not flow out after opening the drain plug, unscrew the plug on the outlet pipe.

Fuel filter replacement

1. Place a suitable container under the fuel filter.

2. Unscrew the inlet and outlet fuel hoses from the filter holder and plug them with plugs.

3. Unscrew the fuel filter.

4. Replace fuel filter and fill completely with fuel.

5. Replace O-rings and screw on fuel filter.

6. Remove air from the fuel system.

Bleeding air from the fuel system

1. Place a suitable container under the fuel filter.

2. Unscrew the bleed screw on the outlet pipe.

3. Unscrew the cap that closes the handle of the hand pump and pump it with the pump until fuel that does not contain air bubbles starts to come out from under the bleeder plug.

4. In the mode of forcing with a hand pump, screw in the air removal plug.

5. Start the engine and warm it up.

6. If the engine does not start, loosen the fastening of the high-pressure pipelines of the first and second cylinders and turn the engine with the starter until the first flashes appear in the cylinders, then tighten the pipelines to a torque of 20 Nm.
