Fuel filter replacement

            0

On engines with a fuel injection system, the fuel filter is installed at the outlet of the fuel pump. The filter is located either at the lower rear of the engine compartment or under the vehicle at the rear, in front of the rear suspension. The replacement procedure is the same for both filter types.

The filter plays an important role in delaying any contamination in the fuel system, and should be replaced in accordance with the regulations or earlier if it is suspected of being contaminated (see fig. 1.33, 1.34).

Depressurize the fuel system.

Remove the negative terminal from the battery.

Raise the front or rear of the car (depending on the location of the filter) and fix on stands.

Remove the inlet and outlet pipes from the filter. If necessary, mark the pipelines to re-install them correctly.

Note the direction of the arrows or other markings on the filter that indicate the direction of fuel flow (to the engine), loosen the filter clamp and remove the filter.

When installing, slide the filter into the clamp so that the arrow points to the correct direction of fuel flow, insert the pipes onto the filter fittings and fasten them. Tighten the filter fixing screw.
