Checking the oil level in an automatic transmission

            0

Drive the vehicle for a short time to warm up the transmission to normal operating temperature, then park the vehicle on level ground and check the oil level.

With the engine idling, move the automatic transmission selector lever 3 times from the position "R" (parking) to other positions and set to position "R". remove the dipstick from the pipe, and wipe off any oil from the end of the dipstick with a clean rag or paper towel.

Insert a clean dipstick back into the pipe as far as it will go, then pull it out again and check the oil level at the end of the dipstick, which should be between the top and bottom marks (dashes).

Attention. If the oil is black and has a burning smell, the automatic transmission needs professional repair.
