Checking the level of working fluid in the automatic transmission STX (Fiesta 4)

At the factory, a special synthetic working fluid (WSD-M2-C199A) is poured into the automatic transmission. ATF fluids of other specifications poured into the CTX gearbox can become a source of serious malfunctions. Untimely replacement of the working fluid, its low or high level can cause malfunctions, so it is necessary to regularly check the fluid level in the gearbox. It is best to leave this work to a service center, as well as all necessary work on the maintenance of your CTX gearbox.



SEQUENCE OF WORKS

1. Take a trip to warm up the working fluid (approximately 10 km).

2. Stop the Fiesta on a level surface. Apply the parking brake and set the selector lever to the "N" position.

3. Open the hood. The engine should be idling.

4. Pull out the fluid level indicator, located in the direction of travel on the right next to the battery, and check the level of the working fluid using the marks (Fig. 12.10).

5. The working fluid level should be between the "Min" and "Max" marks. Otherwise, turn off the engine and add fluid through the hole in the level indicator using a suitable funnel or oiler. Never add too much fluid, as this will damage the automatic transmission. The maximum volume of fluid to add between the "Min" and "Max" marks is approximately 280 cm³.

6. Start the engine and let it idle for about 2 minutes. With the engine running, move the selector lever sequentially to all positions, then check the fluid level again with the engine running.
