Checking the transmission oil level

            0

Ford Fiesta Manual Transmissions (iB5 five-speed gearbox) filled with gear oil, which does not require replacement for a long time. Only in CTX automatic transmissions, every 45,000 km of run, it is required to change the working fluid, including the replacement of the oil filter. Changing gear oil without special equipment is quite a laborious task, so it is better to leave it to a service center or auto repair shop. In mechanical transmissions, modern gear oils work for a long time, since in them, differently than in the engine, the oil undergoes a process of wear and aging. And, if your car's gearbox isn't using up gear oil, you don't have to worry about gearbox maintenance. Otherwise, it is necessary to check the transmission oil level and eliminate the leakage of the transmission as soon as possible. Maintenance of CTX gearboxes consists, first of all, in checking the level of the working fluid.

Synthetic universal oil 75W-90 is poured into mechanical gearboxes (in automatic transmissions CTX - working fluid WSD-M2-C199A). Ford dealers always stock oils of the correct specification. At the factory, 2.8 liters of gear oil are poured into a five-speed gearbox, 4.3 liters of working fluid into an automatic gearbox.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Raise the vehicle in a horizontal position and secure it on stands.

2. Remove the lower engine guards.

3. Using a hexagon socket wrench, turn out the filler plug of the gearbox housing. If some gear oil leaks out, re-tighten the plug securely. If oil does not flow out, check the oil level by inserting your little finger or a piece of wire bent at a right angle into the control hole: the oil level should be 10–15 mm below the edge of the hole.

4. If the oil level is correct, replace and securely tighten the plug.
