During normal vehicle operation, the Ford maintenance plan provides for periodic replacement of the ATF synthetic working fluid, including filter replacement, after 45,000 km of vehicle mileage. However, if during regular fluid checks the fluid has darkened to black or has a burning smell (especially common when driving at low speeds and in traffic jams), then reduce the fluid replacement interval. If you decide to change the fluid yourself, do not forget to replace the filter, as over the course of operation it has collected many small particles of wear from the surface of the conical discs and steel multi-link belt.
The gearbox is a very complex unit, so its repair must be carried out in a specialized workshop. Before repairing the gearbox, it is necessary to determine the nature of the fault (electrical, mechanical or hydraulic). Do not remove the gearbox from the car for repair before the fault has been professionally determined, as most tests require the gearbox to be on the car.
