Adjusting the brake band in an automatic transmission





1 - adjusting bolt,
2 - locknut


1. Install the car over a viewing hole or on a stationary lift.

2. Disconnect the reverse gear cable from the lever.

3. Loosen the locknut securing the adjusting bolt a few turns.

4. Using special tool 17-005, tighten the set bolt until the special tool turns freely, indicating that the bolt is tightened to the required torque.

5. Loosen the set screw two full turns and tighten the locknut.
