Adjusting the brake band in an automatic transmission
1 – adjusting bolt,
2 – lock nut
1. Place the vehicle over an inspection pit or on a stationary lift.
2. Disconnect the reverse gear drive cable from the lever.
3. Loosen the lock nut securing the mounting bolt a few turns.
4. Using special tool 17-005, tighten the mounting bolt until the special tool rotates freely, which indicates that the bolt has been tightened to the required torque.
5. Loosen the set bolt two full turns and tighten the lock nut.
