Adding transmission oil

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. To fill thick gear oil into the gearbox, a special pump is required, which is available in auto repair shops. When the transmission oil level is very low (below 20 mm from the lower edge of the filler / control hole) or when changing the oil, use a funnel and a hose or oiler to add gear oil to a level of at least 10 mm from the edge of the hole.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Gearbox noise

Over time, the transmission may make noises that need attention. In Ford Fiesta vehicles, transmission noise occurs predominantly in vehicles with high mileage. Before embarking on a costly repair, check the transmission oil level first.

If there is noise from the gearbox while driving (rattle and screech) only in one gear, which means that the driven gears or their bearings are worn out.

Extraneous noise in all gears indicates wear on the main gear or differential bearings.

Knocks, which are heard only when the gearbox is warm, indicate a failure of the synchronizer blocking ring. Synchronizer rings of 2nd and 3rd gears are subjected to the most intensive wear. With liquid oil, knocks from the synchronizer blocking ring will always be heard in the same place.
