Checking the oil level in a manual transmission (Escort 5)

Place the vehicle over an inspection pit or on a stationary lift.

Unscrew the oil filler plug on the gearbox and check the oil level through the oil filler hole, which should be at the level of the lower edge of the hole or below it, but not more than 5 mm. If necessary, add oil and tighten the plug to the appropriate torque (see Fig. 1.10).
