Checking the oil level in a manual transmission

Install the car over a viewing hole or on a stationary lift.

Unscrew the oil filler plug on the gearbox and check the oil level through the oil filler hole, which should be at or below the lower edge of the hole, but not more than 5 mm. Add oil if necessary and tighten the plug to the correct torque (see fig. 1.10).
