Attention. This adjustment applies to post-1996 manual clutch models and earlier transitional models.
Clutch pedal play is checked by clutch pedal travel. Before checking, lay the clutch cable by depressing and releasing the pedal several times (at least ten times if new clutch parts or cable have been installed).
Measure the distance from the third groove on the clutch pedal rubber to the car's pedal, then press the pedal all the way down and re-measure. Subtract the second measurement from the first measurement to get the clutch pedal travel. If the measured travel is different from the required travel, adjust the clutch as follows.
To increase the travel of the clutch pedal, turn the adjusting bolt located at the top of the clutch pedal clockwise; to decrease the travel, turn the adjuster counterclockwise.
