Fuel filter replacement

            0

Warning: before removing the fuel filter, you must reduce the pressure in the fuel system (see chapter 4).

1. Locate the fuel filter on the right frame rail, next to the fuel tank. Inspect the hose ends at both ends of the filter to make sure they are clean. If there is at least a thin enough layer of dust on them, be sure to clean the tips before use.

2. Removal of staples-studs from each tip should be carried out in two stages. First unfold the staple legs by about 3 mm (1/8 inch), to detach them, then push them closer together. Press the other end of the brace to release it from the handpiece (see drawing).

3. When both stud brackets are released, take the fuel hoses one at a time and remove them from the filter.

4. After removing the hoses, check the brackets for damage and abrasions. If at least some damage occurred to them during the removal process, then when connecting the hoses to the filter, they should be replaced with new ones.

5. Note the direction of the arrow on the filter - the new one should be installed in the same way. Loosen the clamping screw and remove the filter from the bracket.

6. Install a new filter on the bracket so that the arrow points in the desired direction. Tighten the clamp screw.

7. Carefully slide each hose onto the filter until it sits on the seals, then install the studs. The triangular end of the bracket should be directed in the opposite direction to the filter. Make sure that the clips fit snugly on the hose ends - if they slip, the hoses may come off the filter and a fire may occur.

8. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
