Checking the fluid level in the power steering

            0

See illustrations 5.2 and 5.5.

Warning: in these models of vehicles, the electric fan may operate with the ignition off. When working in the fan area, turn off its motor or disconnect the battery negative cable

1. To avoid problems with the steering system, for example, pump breakdowns, check the fluid level in the hydraulic booster regularly

Warning: do not hold the steering wheel (extreme right or left position) more than 5 seconds, otherwise the power steering pump may break.

2. The power steering pump is located in the right front corner of the motor, equipped with a screw cap with a fluid level probe (see picture).

3. Put the car horizontally, tighten the handbrake.

4. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature. At idle speed of the engine, turn the steering wheel to the right - to the left. to remove air from the steering hydraulic system. Turn off the engine, remove the cap by turning it counterclockwise, wipe the dipstick and screw the cap back on.

5. Remove the cap again, note the liquid level. It must be between the two FULL HOT level lines (full hot), (see illustration). Make sure to use the correct temperature mark on the dipstick - FULL COLD marks (full cold) on the back of the dipstick can only be used when the engine is cold.

6. Add liquid to the required level in small portions.

Warning: Do not overfill the pump.

7. Check power steering hoses and connections for wear and leaks (see section 9).

8. Check the condition and tension of the power steering pump drive belt (see section 10).
