Checking the level and adding working fluid to the power steering reservoir (Mondeo 4)

A drop in the level of the working fluid in the power steering reservoir may be a consequence of a breach in the tightness of the system and a leak of fluid. In this case, it is necessary to more often check the level of the working fluid in the reservoir and, at the first opportunity, check the condition of the units and parts of the power steering.

You will need: power steering fluid, a clean rag.

The tank is mounted on a bracket on the right side of the engine compartment near the radiator frame.



The working fluid level is controlled visually. The translucent wall of the tank body is marked with "MAX" and "MIN". When the engine is warmed up to normal temperature, the working fluid level should be near the "MAX" mark. When the engine is cold, the working fluid level should not be below the "MIN" mark.

NOTE: Check the power steering fluid level with the engine not running.

1. Unscrew the tank cap…





2….and add the required amount of working fluid.



3. Screw the cap back on and wipe away any drips.
