Power steering pump replacement

1. Remove the right fender liner (see Removal and installation of wheel mudguards and fender liner).

2. Remove the accessory drive belt (refer to Inspection and Replacement of the Accessory Drive Belt).

3. Disconnect the power steering pump return line from the reservoir, drain the hydraulic fluid from the power steering reservoir and hose into a suitable container.

4. Disconnect the return line from the power steering pump and remove it.

5. Detach the line bracket from the vehicle body, marking the position of the bracket for ease of installation.

6. Disconnect from an arm a delivery line of the steering mechanism.



7. Turn out the fastening screw..



8.... and disconnect the support bracket for the lines from the steering gear housing.


9. Expand the bracket and remove it.



10. Turn out a bolt of fastening …



11.... fold out the lock and disconnect the pressure line from the steering mechanism.



12. Turn out two bottom bolts of fastening of the pump of the hydraulic booster (pic. 8.3).

13. Disconnect block 1 from the pump (pic. 8.4) wiring harness, unscrew the two bolts 2 fastening the pump and remove the pump assembly with the pressure line of the steering mechanism.

14. Clamp the pump in a vice with soft metal jaws, unscrew the nut securing the pressure line and remove the line.

NOTE: The tightness of the connection of the pressure line with the pump is ensured by a Teflon seal, which must be replaced with each disassembly of the connection.


NOTE: Since a special tool is required to install the seal, we recommend that you do not disassemble the connection unless absolutely necessary.


15. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal and bleed the air from the power steering system (see Bleeding the Power Steering System).
