Maintenance Schedule

This schedule is based on the manufacturer's recommendations, with some intervals (e.g. regarding lubrication and replacement of operating fluids) reduced in order to increase the durability of the engine and other units.

Every 400 km. (250 miles) or weekly (whichever interval comes first).


Check engine oil level (section 3).
Check the fluid level in the engine cooling system (section 3).
Check brake fluid level (section 3).
Check tires and chamber pressure (section 4).

Every 4800 km. (3000 miles) or 3 months


All of the above are a plus.
Check the fluid level in the power steering (section 5).
Check fluid level in automatic transmission (section 6).
Change engine oil and oil filter (section 7).

Every 9500 km. (6000 miles) or 6 months


All of the above plus:
Adjust clutch pedal (section 8).
Check/replace bottom tubes (section 9).
Check/adjust drive belts (section 10).
Check/service battery (section 10).

Every 19000 km. (12000 miles) or 12 months


All of the above plus:
Check/replace wiper blades.
Replace air filter (section 11).
Check PCV valve and crankcase ventilation filter (section 12).
Check the fuel system (section 13).
Replace fuel filter (section 14).
Check the cooling system (section 15).
Check the exhaust system (section 16).
Check tires (section 17).
Inspect the steering and suspension (section 19).
Inspect the brake system (section 20).
Lubricate the parking brake cable (section 20).
Lubricate the automatic transmission control mechanism (section 21).


Check/Change Oil in Manual Transmission (section 22).

Every 48000 km. (30,000 miles) or 30 months


Check and repack the spare wheel (for cars of 1989 and previous years of release (section 23).
Replace spark plugs (section 24).
Check/replace spark plug wires, distributor cap and slider (section 25).
Service the cooling system (drain, rinse, refill) (section 26).
Change fluid and filter in automatic transmission (section 27).
