2. To check the fluid level, the power steering system must be warmed up, so it is better to check it immediately after a run.
3. To check, drive the vehicle onto a level, horizontal surface, point the front wheels straight ahead and turn off the engine.

4. Two types of tanks are installed on diesel Transits (see figure 5.4). Accordingly, they can have either three level marks ("MAX NOT", "MAX COLD" and "MIN"), or only two ("MAX" and "MIN"). Make sure that when the engine is hot, the fluid level does not exceed the "MAX" or "MAX HOT" mark.
5. If the system needs to be topped up, thoroughly wipe the filler cap and the surrounding area with a clean cloth to prevent dirt from getting into the tank when topping up, then unscrew and remove the filler cap.
6. Add fluid to the "MAX HOT" or "MAX" level using the fluid type specified in specifications at the beginning of this Chapter. Be careful not to overfill or contaminate the system. The need for frequent top-ups indicates a leak that should be found and repaired.
7. Replace the filler cap.
