BOSCH generator — design description

            0

The vehicle is equipped with an alternator. Depending on the model and version, a generator of different power can be installed. Power is indicated on the generator plate.

Attention: If additional consumers of electricity are installed, it is necessary to check whether the power of the existing generator is sufficient and, if necessary, install a generator with a higher power.

The generator is driven by a V-ribbed belt from the crankshaft. In this case, the rotor with the excitation winding rotates relative to the stationary stator with a frequency approximately twice the frequency of rotation of the crankshaft. Through the brushes and slip rings, the excitation current flows through the excitation winding. In this case, a magnetic field is formed, the position of which relative to the stator constantly changes in accordance with the rotor speed. Due to this, an alternating current appears in the stator winding. Since the battery can only be charged with direct current, the alternating current is converted into direct current using a semiconductor diode rectifier. The relay-regulator changes the charging current by turning the excitation current on and off in accordance with the charge level of the battery. At the same time, the relay-regulator maintains the operating voltage unchanged and equal to approximately 14 volts, regardless of the speed.
