Removing and installing the battery

            0

The battery is located on the left side of the engine compartment.

Caution: Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is switched off, otherwise the injection system control unit will be damaged.

Caution: Disconnecting the battery will erase the contents of the following electronic storage devices.

In the injection system control unit, the data on the operating parameters of the engine, recorded as a result of the so-called "learning". These can be, for example, engine-specific idling speed control parameters. Therefore, after the battery is reconnected, vehicle dynamics may be disturbed for a short time (jolts, skipping bursts on acceleration, or rough idling).

The fault codes of the injection and ignition systems, possibly recorded in them, are erased from the memory devices.

The radio erases the anti-theft code and tuning to transmitting stations. As a rule, only series-installed radio receivers have the anti-theft code. If the code is not known, then the radio can only be connected again at the SRT of FORD cars. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery, make sure you have the anti-theft code for your radio.

The driver's door power window must be reinstalled after installing the battery.

Withdrawal

Turn off the ignition and vehicle lights. This avoids damage to the electronic control units (e.g. engine control unit).

Open the engine compartment hood. The battery is located on the passenger side next to the driver behind the spring strut arch.

If present, unscrew the fastener and remove the battery cover.

First, disconnect the ground wire from the battery (straight terminal), and then the positive pole wire (cross terminal). Signs are embossed near the poles of the battery (+) and correspondingly (-).

Loosen nut -2- and remove clamp -1-.

Loosen the retaining plate bolt and remove the plate. The retaining plate is located at the base of the battery.

Remove the battery.

Safety note: The battery contains toxic substances which must not be disposed of with household waste. Dispose of the old battery at a special waste collection point. District and city authorities inform about the location of the nearest reception points.

Installation

Before installing the battery, clean its poles to a shine. A brass wire brush is suitable for this operation. To prevent corrosion, apply a special acid-resistant grease to both poles, e.g. BOSCH pole grease.

Insert the battery.

Screw in the retaining plate fixing bolt and do not overtighten.

Attach, do not overtighten the clamping bracket.

Connect the positive wire to the positive pole (+) battery, then ground wire - to the negative pole (-).

Caution: Incorrect battery connection can cause significant damage to the generator and electrical system.

Attach and screw on the plastic cover.

If necessary, tune the radio again. Set clock.

Vehicle with power windows: Install the power window on the driver's door. If the power window / window glass was removed or the battery was disconnected, the control unit needs to "explore" window glass position. To do this, use the power window switch to fully open the window glass and hold the switch in the window opening position for at least one second. Then close the window pane completely and hold the switch again in the closed position for at least one second. If this is not done, the following functions may be impaired: opening / closing by briefly pressing the switch, as well as stopping / opening when increased resistance occurs (anti-tamper function).
