Storage of the battery

            0

To avoid aging of the battery, it should be recharged approximately once every 2 months during storage.

A battery that has not been used for a long time (e.g. when storing a car), self-discharges and, in addition, it may experience sulfation of the plates. When such a battery is charged by a booster charger, it does not accept the charging current or, due to the so-called surface charging, shows signs of being fully charged too quickly. Apparently, this battery has a defect.

Before a battery is considered defective, it must be checked.

Check electrolyte density. If the density of the electrolyte in individual cells differs by no more than 0.04 g/ml, then the battery must be charged with a conventional charger.

After charging, check the operation of the battery under load. If the measured parameter values do not correspond to the prescribed values, then the battery is defective.

If the density of the electrolyte in one or two adjacent cells has dropped noticeably (for example, 5 elements show a density of 1.16 g / ml, and in one it is equal to 1.08 g / ml), then the battery has a short circuit and is defective.
