Storage of the battery (Scorpio 2)

To avoid battery aging, it should be recharged approximately every 2 months during storage.

A battery that has not been used for a long time (e.g. when a car is mothballed) self-discharges and, in addition, its plates may become sulphated. When such a battery is charged with a fast charger, it does not accept the charging current or, due to so-called superficial charging, shows signs of being fully charged too quickly. Apparently, such a battery is defective.

Before declaring the battery faulty, it must be tested.

Check the density of the electrolyte. If the density of the electrolyte in individual elements differs by no more than 0.04 g/ml, then the battery must be charged with a conventional charger.

After charging, check the battery operation under load. If the measured parameter values do not correspond to the prescribed values, the battery is faulty.

If the density of the electrolyte in one or two adjacent cells has dropped noticeably (for example, 5 cells show a density of 1.16 g/ml, and in one it is 1.08 g/ml), then there is a short circuit in the battery and it is faulty.
