Features of the device

The cars are equipped with a storage battery, the positive terminal of which is connected by one wire to the starter. and by the other wire to the mounting block. The negative terminal of the battery is connected to the "ground" of the body and engine. Regardless of the position of the key in the ignition switch, the power circuits of the external and internal lighting, trunk lighting, clock, cigarette lighter and centralized door locking system are always on.

Maintenance

Check the electrolyte level at least once a month. The level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the battery case. To restore the electrolyte level, add only distilled water. If the battery terminals and wire clamps are sulfated, clean them and lubricate them with technical petroleum jelly. In the event of battery failure, as well as during its maintenance, it is necessary to check the degree of its discharge by measuring the density of the electrolyte, taking into account the temperature correction.

Charging the battery. The battery charge indicator lamp lights up on the instrument panel when the ignition is turned on and should go out when the engine speed is slightly higher than idle speed. If the indicator lamp lights up while the vehicle is moving, this indicates that there is no charging current. Check the alternator drive belt tension and the integrity of the battery charging circuit. If the battery is discharged by more than 25% in winter and more than 50% in summer, remove the battery from the vehicle and recharge it as follows. Clean the battery, check the electrolyte level and bring it up to standard. Charge the battery with a current equal to 10% of its capacity until gas bubbles begin to be released abundantly and the electrolyte density remains constant for 3 hours, preventing the electrolyte from heating above 45°C. If at the end of charging the density differs from the required one, then remove some of the electrolyte and add distilled water to reduce the density, or high-density electrolyte 1.4 g/cm³ to increase the density. Continue charging for another 30 minutes to mix the electrolyte, turn off the charger and after 30 minutes check the density of the electrolyte and its level.
