Device Features

The vehicles are equipped with a battery, the positive terminal of which is connected by one wire to the starter. and another wire with a mounting block. The negative terminal of the battery is connected to «weight» body and engine. Regardless of the position of the key in the ignition switch, the power circuits for external and internal lighting, trunk lighting, clock, cigarette lighter and centralized door locking are always on.

Maintenance

Check the electrolyte level at least once a month. The level must be between the marks «MIN» And «MAX», marked on the battery case. To restore the electrolyte level, add only distilled water. In case of sulphation of the battery terminals and wire clamps, clean them and lubricate them with technical petroleum jelly. In the event of a battery failure, as well as during its maintenance, it is necessary to check the degree of its discharge by measuring the density of the electrolyte, taking into account the correction for temperature.

Charging the battery. The battery charge warning lamp lights up on the instrument panel when the ignition is switched on and should go out when the engine speed is slightly higher than idling. If the control lamp is on while the vehicle is moving. this indicates the absence of charge current. Check alternator drive belt tension and battery charge circuit continuity. If the battery is discharged by more than 25% in winter or more. than 50% in summer, the battery must be removed from the vehicle and recharged in the following order. Clean the battery, check the electrolyte level and bring it to normal. Charge the battery with a current equal to 10% of its capacity until abundant release of gas bubbles and achievement of a constant density of the electrolyte for 3 hours, avoiding heating of the electrolyte above 45°C. If at the end of charging the density differs from the desired one, then take a part of the electrolyte and add distilled water to reduce the density, or an electrolyte of increased density 1.4 g/cm3 to increase the density. Continue charging for another 30 minutes to mix the electrolyte, turn off the charger and after 30 minutes check the density of the electrolyte and its level.
