Removal
Important: Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
Caution: This erases the contents of electronic memory devices, such as the engine fault code memory or radio memory. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery, be sure to read the instructions in the chapter "Removal and installation the battery".
Remove the lower engine compartment cover, see p. 10.
Unscrew the main current wire (red) from the starter.

Disconnect the control wire from the traction relay "B".
Unscrew the 3 bolts "A" securing the starter and remove the starter downwards.

Some diesel engines are equipped with a larger starter. In this case, it is necessary to dismantle the rear cover of the oil pan (6 clamps) and the left engine support "arrows" A - the cable clamp. Before releasing the left engine support, it must be suspended (protected from falling down) using a hoist.
Installation

Diesel engine: if it has been removed, attach and tighten the engine support. Disconnect the hoist.
Attach the wire to the traction relay and screw on the main current wire.
Diesel engine: Position and clamp the rear engine compartment sound insulation.
Lower the car.
Connect the ground (-) cable to the battery.
If available, set the clock and enter the radio theft protection code.
Install the lower engine compartment cover.
