Adjusting the starter interlock switch (Escort 3)

This adjustment is performed with the gearbox removed from the vehicle and the valve box cover removed. Set the selector lever to the "N" position. Insert a ∅ 2.3 mm drill into the hole in the switch housing and, turning the switch housing as shown in Fig. 3.49, align the housing holes with the inner hole.



Press the drill to hold the switch housing and tighten its fastening Install the gearshift control valve lever and attach the return spring Install the valve box cover with a new gasket, making sure that the box data plate has not come off Install the oil filler tube (Fig. 3.50) with a new seal Remove the gearbox from the stand.



Install the oil pump drive shaft and torque converter.
