Start the engine with the selector lever in the "P" or "N" positions. When moving the selector lever to the "R", "D", "2" and "1" positions, a slight resistance should be felt. To check the engine crankshaft speed, install a control tachometer in the passenger compartment, within the driver's line of sight. Tighten the parking brake fully and press the brake pedal.
Start the engine, move the selector lever to the "O" position, press the accelerator pedal all the way for 3 seconds and determine the crankshaft speed using the tachometer. Do the same for the "R" selector lever position. In these positions, the crankshaft speed should be within 2350-3050 rpm.
WARNING: Do not exceed a test duration of 3 seconds; between two tests, the engine must run for about 15 seconds at idle speed, with the selector lever in the "N" position.
