Starter Troubleshooting

When the starter is not turning. first of all, it is necessary to check whether the voltage necessary for its operation is supplied to terminal 50 of the traction relay, the value of which must be at least 8 volts. If the voltage is less than the named value, it is necessary to check the wires included in the electrical target of the starter according to the electrical circuit. You can check if the starter works when full battery voltage is applied as follows:
  • Without engaging any gear, turn on the ignition.
  • With a wire with a cross section of at least 4 mm2 make a jumper between terminals 30 and 50 of the starter.

If at the same time the starter engages the gear perfectly, then the fault lies in the electrical wires that supply voltage to the starter. If the starter does not engage the gear, it must be checked in the removed state.

Prerequisite for checking, the wires at the connection points must be firmly tightened and not oxidized.
