Use a charged battery for testing.

Set the ammeter with a measurement range from 0-5 mA to 0-5 A to the highest measurement limit. Disconnect the ground (-) wire from the battery.
Attention: This will erase the "operating parameters" from the memory of the electronic control unit of the injection system, and the anti-theft code and tuned radio stations from the memory of the radio. Therefore, before disconnecting the battery, be sure to read the instructions in the chapter "Removal and installation the battery".
Connect the ammeter between the negative battery terminal (-) and the ground wire (-). Connect the positive wire (+) of the ammeter to the ground wire (-), and connect the negative wire of the ammeter (-) to the negative battery terminal (-).
Note: The test can also be performed using a test lamp. If the lamp connected between the ground wire and the negative pole of the battery does not light, then an ammeter must be used.
Turn off all electrical consumers. Switch off existing clocks (and other permanent consumers), close the doors.
Reduce the ammeter measurement range until the reading can be read from the instrument scale (the acceptable value is 1-3 mA).
By removing fuses in sequence, break various electrical circuits. If the ammeter needle moves to zero when the circuit is broken, then the fault should be looked for in this circuit. The fault may be caused by corrosion and contamination of contacts, chafing of wires, or an internal short circuit in the unit.
If no fault is found in the electrical unit protected by the fuse, then it is necessary to disconnect the wires from the unit not protected by the fuse. Such a unit can be a generator and a starter.
If the ammeter needle drops to zero when the unit is switched off, the corresponding unit must be repaired or replaced. If current is lost in the starter or ignition system, always check the ignition switch in accordance with the electrical diagram.
Connect the ground (-) cable to the battery.
Set the clock.
Enter the anti-theft code for the radio.
Install the driver's side window regulator, see chapter "Removal and installation the battery".
