OHC and V6 2.8 dm³ engine



1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.

2. On V6 engines, disconnect the high voltage wires from the fuel pressure regulator bracket.

3. Place a suitable container under the fuel pressure regulator and disconnect the fuel return pipe (indicated by the arrow).

4. Disconnect the vacuum tube (indicated by the arrow) from the regulator.



5. Loosen the fuel supply coupling nut and relieve pressure in the fuel system.

6. Unscrew the nut (indicated by the arrow) from the base of the regulator and remove the regulator.

7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

DOHC Engine



8. Remove the ground wire from the battery.

9. Slowly loosen the fuel supply connection of the fuel rail to relieve pressure in the fuel system.

10. Disconnect the fuel return hose (indicated by arrow) from the pressure regulator.

11. Disconnect the vacuum tube from the top of the regulator.

12. Unscrew the two mounting bolts and remove the regulator from the fuel line together with the sealing ring.

13. Install a new sealing ring on the regulator, after lubricating it with engine oil.



14. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

V6, 2.4 and 2.9 dm³ engines



15. Remove the ground wire from the battery.

16. Slowly loosen the fuel supply connection of the fuel rail to relieve pressure in the fuel system.

17. On engines with aluminum fuel rails and a late model fuel pressure regulator, remove the fuel return line retaining clamp from the top of the regulator.

18. Place a suitable container under the fuel pressure regulator and disconnect the fuel return hose (indicated by the arrow) and vacuum tube from the fuel pressure regulator.

19. Unscrew and remove the regulator from the fuel line.

20. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Lubricate the sealing ring with silicone grease. Turn on the ignition 5 times without turning on the engine starter to increase the pressure in the fuel system.
