Attention! The fuel system is under pressure. To release the pressure in the system, use the valve located on the fuel distribution pipe. Ford workshops install a special tap on the valve - Ford tool 29-033 and drain the fuel. If you do not have such a tool, open the fuel lines and collect the leaking fuel with a rag.

Squeeze the quick-release fasteners on both fuel lines and remove them. Use a thick rag to collect any escaping fuel.

Disconnect the fuel lines from the bracket on the cylinder head.

Carefully clamp the distribution pipe in a vice using protective pads and unscrew the mounting bolts of the jets. Pull out the jets.

Installation

Attention! The rubber sealing rings (0-rings) of all jets and the pressure regulator must be replaced each time they are dismantled.

Install the O-rings at the top and bottom of the jets, lightly lubricate them with clean machine oil. Install the jets into the fuel distribution pipe.

Turn the jets so that the plugs are facing up and secure them with the locking bolts.

Install the fuel distributor with jets into the cylinder head, tighten the mounting bolts using the specified tightening torques, see Fig.

Connect the ventilation hose.

If removed, install the fuel pressure regulator with a new O-ring in the fuel distributor. First install two O-rings on the jets, one at the top and one at the bottom, lubricating them with a thin layer of engine oil

Connect the fuel lines to the quick-release fasteners. Do not mix up the fuel lines. Install the fuel line holders.

Connect the multi-pin plug of the jets.

Install the air intake chamber, see p. 5.6.

Connect the ground (-) wire to the battery. Set the existing clock and set the radio anti-theft code.

Start the engine and turn it off again. Check the system for leaks.
