Checking the jets (Mondeo 1)

The jets inject fuel at specific intervals, i.e. for each revolution of the crankshaft, half of the amount of fuel required for one suction stroke is injected. The valve injects fuel in the form of a cone and closes hermetically immediately after injection is complete. Leaky valves cause problems when starting a hot engine. Defective jets can lead to spontaneous operation and engine shutdown.

Start the engine and let it idle.

With the engine running, use a stethoscope to check whether each individual valve is clicking. This clicking is caused by the opening and closing of the jet.

If you don't have a stethoscope, you can use a screwdriver or your finger to feel if the jet is working.

If very strong operating noises are detected or there is no noise at all, it is necessary to check the plug connection, the presence of a signal from the control device and the resistance of the jet (work is performed in a workshop).
