DOHC Engine Idle Speed Control Valve

The idle speed control valve is indicated by the arrow.
OHC and V6 engines
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.

2. Remove the connector (indicated by the arrow) from the control valve by bending back the retaining clip.

3. Unscrew the two mounting nuts (ONC) (or bolts on a V6 engine) and remove the valve (indicated by the arrow).
4. If necessary, unscrew the two screws and remove the coil from the valve.
5. Install the valve in place using a new gasket and tighten the nuts or bolts.
6. Connect the connector and battery ground wire.
7. Start the engine and check for stable idling.
8. Warm up the engine to operating temperature, turn on all electrical consumers and check that the idle speed remains stable.
DOHC Engine
9. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
10. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the air intake hose from the throttle.
11. Unscrew the mounting nut and disconnect the air intake tube from the bracket on the front panel of the engine compartment.
12. Remove the connector from the control valve by bending back the retaining clip.
13. Disconnect the air cleaner cover clamps, remove the air intake tube, pressure chamber and air cleaner cover as an assembly, disconnecting the crankcase ventilation hose from the air intake tube.
14. Unscrew the two mounting bolts and remove the valve from the air intake tube.
15. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
16. Start the engine and check for stable idling.
17. Warm up the engine to operating temperature, turn on all electrical consumers and check that the idle speed remains stable.
