Air distribution and purification

            0

The new heating and ventilation system ensures uniform air distribution.

The temperature control and air distribution flaps are controlled by two drive cables. All vehicles have an air recirculation function, the flap of which is controlled by a servomotor.

Air is supplied to the windshield and side windows regardless of the air distribution setting.

In most countries, an air purifier is installed as standard equipment on cars. This filter cleans incoming fresh air from dust and dirt particles. The filter element should be replaced under normal operating conditions every 40,000 km and under severe operating conditions every 20,000 km. If there is no air purifier, a plastic grille is installed above the air intake opening. This grille can be easily replaced with an air purifier.

At face level

The main air flow enters the passenger compartment at face level.

At face level/at floor level

The main air flow enters the passenger compartment in equal parts at face level and at floor level, and a small amount of air is directed to the deflectors that prevent fogging of the side windows.

At floor level

The main air flow enters the passenger compartment at floor level, with a small amount of air directed to deflectors that prevent fogging of the side windows.

Anti-fog/floor level

The main air flow enters the passenger compartment in equal parts in the windshield area and at floor level, and a smaller amount is directed to the deflectors that prevent fogging of the side windows.

Air distribution system drive cables

NOTE: The Bowden cables for left-hand drive and right-hand drive vehicles are identical. However, they are connected to the choke actuator mechanism on opposite sides, respectively.

The air distribution switch performs its functions using two Bowden cables. The cables control the air distribution valves in the heater housing.

To remove and install the cables, turn the rotary switch all the way to the left. In this position, the air damper mechanism easily engages, making it easier to install the cables.

Removing the dust filter

1.
NOTE: The dust filter is located on the passenger side.

NOTE: Place the glass wipers in a vertical position.

NOTE: Removing the hood air grille will damage the gasket.

Disconnect the passenger side hood air vent section (right hand drive vehicle shown).
  • 1. Unfasten the two clamps.
  • 2. Remove the cover, unscrew and remove the bolt.

2. Remove the dust filter. Open the service flap and remove the dust filter.

Installing a dust filter

1.
NOTE: Consider the direction of flow through the dust filter.

Install a dust filter.

2. The grid with rubber edging is inserted between the electric motor of the cleaners and the filter housing. It should be cleaned of dirt each time the filter is replaced.

3.
NOTE: Make sure the hood air louver gasket is properly installed in the windshield area. A new hood air louver gasket is required. Refer to Section 501-02 for additional information.

Install the hood air grille.
