Low pressure relay — removal and installation (Focus 1)

Removal


1. Disconnect the power steering expansion tank from the wheel arch panel and place it to the side.

1. Disconnect the power steering expansion tank from the wheel arch panel and place it to the side.


2. Disconnect the low pressure switch electrical connector.

2. Disconnect the low pressure switch electrical connector.


3. Start the engine and turn the air conditioning (A/C) switch to the on position.

NOTE: Make sure the A/C compressor is running when removing the low pressure switch.


Connect a 20 A fuse-protected jumper wire between pins 1 and 4 of the low pressure switch electrical connector, on the wiring side.

WARNING: Make sure the low pressure switch valve is completely closed after removing the low pressure switch to prevent loss of refrigerant. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.




Remove the low pressure switch.
  • Discard the O-rings.

Discard the O-rings.


Installation


1.
NOTE: Install new low pressure switch O-rings.


NOTE: Apply clean cooling oil to the low pressure switch O-rings before installation.


To install, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
