Air conditioning compressor (1.6L) — removal and installation

Withdrawal

1. Drain the refrigerant from the air conditioning system. Refer to Section 412-00 for more information.

2. Raise and secure the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for more information.

3. Remove the motor protection.



4. Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch connector.



5. Remove the accessory drive belt cover.



6. Remove the accessory drive belt from the accessory drive belt tensioner pulley.

CAUTION: Plug the refrigerant lines and the A/C compressor to prevent dirt from entering.

Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the A/C compressor.

• Discard O-rings as they are no longer needed.

8. Remove the A/C compressor.

• Disconnect the refrigerant line bracket from the compressor.

Installation

NOTE: Install new refrigerant line O-rings.

NOTE: Apply clean refrigerant oil to the O-rings on the refrigerant lines before installation.

When installing, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
