Removal and installation of the compressor of the air conditioner

            0

Warning 1: Discharge the system before starting work (should consult a specialist). You will need a special tool to disconnect the pipes.

Warning 2: Some 1992 models are equipped with R134 type A/C systems. On the details of such systems there are yellow labels with the words "NON - CFC" Also, the compressor clutch on R134 systems is gold. They are very similar to R12 type compressors but are not interchangeable. Do not use R134 type compressors in R12 systems that are on all models prior to 1991.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the power steering pump (see chapter 10).

3. Pull out the A/C compressor clutch connector.

5. Raise the front of the machine, place it securely on stands.

6. Looking from below, follow the pipelines to the point of their connection. Using the special tool for spring clips, disconnect both ends (see chapter 4).

Note: do not attempt to disconnect the manifold assembly with pipes from the compressor when the compressor itself is not removed. You will not be able to remove the compressor after you unscrew the manifold bolts.

7. Remove 4 bolts (see picture), then connect the compressor to its support bracket.

8. Pull the compressor together with the manifold through the top.

9. Turn off bolts of a collector and disconnect a collector with tubes from the compressor.

10. If the compressor has to be changed, remove the coupling and winding from the old one, install them on the new compressor.

11. Assemble and install in reverse order.
