Power steering pump — removal and installation

Withdrawal

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.

2. Place a pan under the power steering pump. Remove the drive belt (see chapter 1)

3. Using a special puller for the power steering pump pulley. remove the pulley from the pump (see picture).



4. Remove the charge and return hoses from the back of the pump, drain the liquid (see picture). Install plugs in the hoses.



5. Loosen the pump mounting bolts (see picture), pull the pump out of the vehicle.

Installation

6. Place the pump in the support bracket, tighten the bolts.

7. Connect hoses to pump Attach handpieces securely.

8. Press the pulley onto the pump shaft using the pulley setting tool (see picture). Slide the pulley onto the shaft until the front of the hub is aligned with the end of the shaft, but no further.

9. Install drive belt.

10. Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended brand of fluid and bleed the system (see section 29).
