Removal


1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Place a pan under the power steering pump. Remove the drive belt (see chapter 1)

4. Remove the feed and return hoses from the rear of the pump, drain the liquid (see figure). Install plugs in the hoses.

5. Unscrew the pump mounting bolts (see figure), remove the pump from the car.

Installation


6. Place the pump in the support bracket, tighten the bolts.

7. Connect the hoses to the pump. Secure the fittings securely.

8. Press the pulley onto the pump shaft using a special pulley installation tool (see illustration). Push the pulley onto the shaft until the front of the hub is flush with the end of the shaft, but no further.

9. Install the drive belt.

10. Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended brand of fluid and bleed the system (see section 29).
