Steering wheel — removal and installation

Warning: If the vehicle is equipped with an air bag, do not attempt to remove the steering wheel. Contact a specialist.

Withdrawal


1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the two screws securing the horn pad to the steering wheel. Grab the cushion block at the top two corners and pull it back away from the steering wheel (see picture).



3. Pull out an electrosocket and remove a pillow of a sound signal. Unplug the mileage control device wire connector if the vehicle is equipped with one.

4. Unscrew the steering wheel fixing nut (on 1988 models - bolt) (see picture).



5. Remove the steering wheel back from the steering shaft. A steering wheel puller is not required.

Installation


6. Align the index mark on the steering wheel hub with the mark on the shaft and put the wheel on the shaft (see picture). Install the fixing bolt or nut, tighten it to the required torque.



7. Plug in the electrical connector and install the horn pad.

8. Connect the wire to the negative battery terminal.
