Removal


All cars

NOTE: Whenever disconnecting the hoses from the power steering pump, be careful not to allow power steering fluid to come into contact with the accessory drive belt.


1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

Diesel Engine Cars

3. Remove the engine protection.

All cars

4. Using the special tool, disconnect the working fluid cooler hose.
  • 1. Insert the special tool into the quick-release coupling of the hose.
  • 2. Move the special tool along the pipeline to release the locking elements.
  • Allow the liquid to drain into a suitable container.

NOTE: The left-hand drive option is shown, the right-hand drive option is similar



Disconnect the hose clamp. Remove the screw.

NOTE: Right hand drive version shown, left hand drive version is similar.


Disconnect the power steering hoses from the steering gear.
  • 1. Unscrew the bolt.
  • 2.Turn the clamping bar.
  • Allow the liquid to drain into a suitable container.



Cars with 1.4L or 1.6L engines without air conditioning

NOTE: Power steering pump with aluminum housing.


Using a special tool, disconnect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.
  • 1. Disconnect the hose support brackets.
  • 2. Using a special tool, disconnect the nipple connection of the hose.

NOTE: Power steering pump with cast iron housing



Disconnect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.
  • 1. Disconnect the hose support brackets.
  • 2. Disconnect the nipple connection of the hose.



Cars with 1.4L or 1.6L engines with air conditioning system

9. Disconnect the high pressure hose support bracket.



10. Disconnect the nipple connection of the high-pressure hose. Allow the liquid to drain into a suitable container.



All cars


11. Lower the vehicle.

Cars with 1.8L or 2.0L engine

12. Disconnect the high pressure hose support brackets.
  • Remove the bolts.
  • Disconnect the speed control cable (if equipped).

Using a special tool, disconnect the nipple connection of the high-pressure hose. Allow the liquid to drain into a suitable container.

NOTE: Power steering pump with cast iron housing.


Disconnect the nipple connection of the high-pressure hose. Allow the liquid to drain into a suitable container.



Diesel Engine Cars


15. Remove the air duct from the charge air cooler (CAC) to the intake manifold.
  • 1. Release the clamps.
  • 2. Unscrew the nut.
  • 3. Remove the air duct.



16. Disconnect the high pressure hose support brackets.



17. Disconnect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.



18. Remove the air duct running from the SAS to the turbocharger.
  • 1. Release the clamps.
  • 2. Unscrew the nut.
  • 3. Remove the air duct.



19. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the air filter to the turbocharger.



20. Disconnect the air filter.
  • 1. Disconnect the air temperature sensor plug.
  • 2.Lift and remove the air filter.
  • Place it to the side.



All except diesel engine variant

21. Remove the battery tray. For more information, refer to Section 414-01.

22. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Section 303-12 for additional information.

All cars

23. Remove the high pressure hose.

Installation


All cars

1. If a new hose is to be installed, connect it to the new nipple.

NOTE: Power steering pump with cast iron housing.


Using a special tool, install the new Teflon O - ring.
  • 1.Place the new seal on the special tool.
  • 2. Install the tool on the nipple and fit the seal.

NOTE: Power steering pump with aluminum housing.


Note: Check the rubber O-ring for damage, and install a new O-ring if necessary.


Using a special tool, install the new Teflon O - ring.
  • 1.Place the new seal on the special tool.
  • 2. Install the tool on the nipple and fit the seal.

CAUTION: Make sure the hose is routed correctly.


Install the high pressure hose in the required position.

5. Install the air filter. Refer to Section 303-12 for additional information.

6. Install the battery tray. For more information, refer to Section 414-01.

Diesel Engine Cars

CAUTION: Make sure the hose is routed correctly.


Install the high pressure hose in the required position.

8. Install the air filter. Connect the plug connector.



9. Connect the outlet pipe from the air cleaner to the turbocharger.



10. Install the air duct from the SAS to the turbocharger.
  • 1. Install the air duct.
  • 2. Tighten the clamps.
  • 3. Screw on the nut.



11. Connect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.



12. Install the high pressure hose support brackets.



13. Install the air duct from the SAS to the intake manifold.
  • 1. Install the air duct.
  • 2. Tighten the clamps.
  • 3. Screw on the nut.



Cars with 1.8L or 2.0L engine

Using a special tool, connect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.

NOTE: Power steering pump with cast iron housing.


Connect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.



16. Install the high pressure hose support brackets.
  • Screw in the bolts.
  • Connect the speed control cable (if equipped).



Cars with 1.4L or 1.6L engines with air conditioning system

17. Connect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.



All cars

18. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

19. Install the high pressure hose support bracket.



Cars with 1.4L or 1.6L engines without air conditioning

Using a special tool, connect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.
  • 1.Connect the nipple connection of the hose.
  • 2.Install the left hose support bracket.
  • 3.Install the right hose support bracket.

NOTE: Power steering pump with cast iron housing.


Connect the nipple connection of the high pressure hose.
  • 1.Connect the nipple connection of the hose.
  • 2.Install the left hose support bracket.
  • 3.Install the right hose support bracket.



All cars

22. Install the power steering hoses. Install the hoses and turn the clamp bar.



23. Install the hose support clamp.



24. Connect the working fluid cooler hose.



Diesel Engine Cars

25. Install the engine protection.

All cars

26. Lower the vehicle.

27. Connect the battery ground cable.

28. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Section 211-00 for additional information.
