The toothed steering mechanism is located at the front of the chassis below. It is operated manually using the steering wheel. The rotational movement of the steering shaft is converted into a transverse linear movement in the steering mechanism.
The toothed rack of the mechanism (Fig. 5.1) is connected by two transverse steering rods to the steering knuckle levers, which are secured with bolts to the front suspension columns.
