Unscrew the clamping bolt on the shaft of the toothed wheel moving the toothed rack. Remove the clamping bolt (Fig. 5.2).

Disconnect the steering joints at the junction of the transverse steering rods with the steering knuckle arms (Fig. 5.3).

Unscrew the bolts securing the steering gear housing to the end bulkhead of the body.
Remove the transmission from the engine compartment by pulling it out from the right side underneath the vehicle (Fig. 5.4).

The steering mechanism is installed in the following order:
Insert the steering gear into the engine compartment and install it in the mounting position.
Set the steering wheel to the center position, and set the steering gear to the center position.
Connect the gear shaft of the mechanism to the steering shaft in such a way that the clamping bolt can be freely inserted into the holes intended for it.
Bolt the steering gear to the end bulkhead of the body.
Tighten the nut of the lower bracket of the hydraulic booster mechanism (Fig. 5.5).

Install the steering joints connecting the tie rods to the steering knuckle arms.
Set the wheel alignment according to the data placed in section 1.1.
