Removing and installing the steering column (Fiesta 2)

Disconnect the vehicle ground cable from the battery clamp.

Remove the manual suction control cable handle.

Remove the upper and lower steering shaft covers.

Remove the hood lock control cable. Disconnect the cable from the lever and the steering column bracket.

Remove the ignition switch (Fig. 5.7).

Remove the ignition switch (Fig. 5.7).


Unscrew the clamp bolt connecting the steering shaft and the shaft of the toothed wheel that moves the toothed rack of the steering gear.

Unscrew the steering column from the bracket.

The entire unit, i.e. the steering column together with the shaft and steering wheel, is pulled up and removed from the car. The column is installed in the reverse order. In this case, pay special attention to installing the steering wheel, shaft and steering mechanism in the middle position. After this, tighten the clamp bolt connecting the steering shaft to the steering mechanism.
