Withdrawal



1. Remove ground wire from battery.

2. Set wheels to drive straight.

3. In the engine compartment, unscrew the coupling bolt of the connecting flange of the steering shaft with the drive gear.

4. Remove steering wheel.

5. Loosen the screws and remove the upper and lower trim covers.


6. If equipped, remove the lower sound absorbing panel from the instrument panel.

7. Unscrew the bolt securing the hood opening lever and move the lever to the side.

8. Unscrew the multifunction switches from the steering column.

9. Remove the electrical connector from the ignition switch.

10. Remove the upper steering column clamp.



11. Remove the lower steering column clamp.

12. Remove steering column.

13. Remove the ring at the top of the column and remove the steering shaft from the bottom side of the column. Before removing the shaft, make sure that the steering column lock is unlocked. Together with the extracted shaft, the lower bearing with a conical spring will also come out.



14. To replace the upper shaft bearing, remove the steering column lock by drilling out the shear bolt.


Installation



1. Install the new bearing in the seat of the lock housing.

2. Install the lock on the steering column and screw in a new mounting bolt, tightening it until the head is cut off.

3. Install the spring in such a way that its side with a large diameter is on the lower bearing of the deformable element.

4. Install the lower bearing so that its beveled edge lines up with the notch in the seat.

5. Carefully insert the steering shaft into the column from below and install the upper bearing circlip.

6. Install the turn switch control cam with the tab up.

7. Place the steering wheel against the shaft and ensure that the cam protrusion fits into the steering wheel groove.

8. Install the steering wheel on the shaft and secure with a nut.

9. Install the steering column on the car, and the lower end of the shaft must engage with the axis of the drive gear, and screw the fastening clamps.

10. Install the electrical connector to the ignition switch.

11. Install the switches, hood release lever, and upper and lower trim covers.

12. Install the lower sound absorbing panel on the dashboard.

13. In the engine compartment, screw the coupling bolt of the connecting flange of the steering shaft with the drive gear.

14. Connect ground wire to battery.
