Removal


All cars

1. Drain the refrigerant from the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section 412-00.

2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

NOTE: Do not drain the coolant from the cooling system.


Remove the radiator shroud.

Remove the radiator shroud.


4.
CAUTION: Cap the refrigerant lines and A/C condenser to prevent dirt from entering.


Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser.

Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser.


Vehicles with common rail fuel injection systems

CAUTION: Cap the refrigerant lines and A/C condenser to prevent dirt from entering.


Disconnect the upper refrigerant line from the condenser.

Disconnect the upper refrigerant line from the condenser.

CAUTION: Cap the refrigerant lines and A/C condenser to prevent dirt from entering.




Disconnect the lower refrigerant line from the condenser.

Disconnect the lower refrigerant line from the condenser.


All cars

7.
CAUTION: Support the radiator crossmember using a transmission jack or similar device.


Release the radiator cross member (left side shown).

Release the radiator cross member (left side shown).


8. Remove the air conditioning condenser.
  • 1. Release the capacitor (one side shown).
  • 2. Pull the capacitor aside.

Installation


1.
NOTE: Install new O-rings on the refrigerant lines.


NOTE: Apply clean refrigeration oil to the O-rings of the refrigerant lines before installation.


Install the elements back in place, working in reverse order.
