Adding Coolant Oil

CAUTION: Store cooling oil in a closed, sealed container to prevent moisture ingress.


NOTE: When replacing the A/C compressor, water separator, or refrigerant lines, collect the refrigerant oil in a clean measuring container.

NOTE: This procedure is only required when removing the A/C compressor.


Drain the cooling oil from the A/C compressor.
  • When draining the cooling oil, rotate the compressor shaft at least 6-8 times.

NOTE: This procedure is only required when removing the water separator.


Drain the cooling oil from the water separator.

NOTE: This procedure is only required when removing refrigerant lines.


Drain the refrigerant oil from the refrigerant lines.

NOTE: When replacing more than one air conditioning system element, the amount of oil added must be equal to the total amount of oil drained from each individual element.


NOTE: Also, add an amount of new refrigerant oil equal to the amount of oil collected in the service unit oil separator when draining the air conditioning system.


Add the calculated amount of new cooling oil. For more information, please refer to the General Specifications chapter available in this section.
