1 – piston with pin and piston rings, 2 – connecting rod, 3 – connecting rod bearing shells, 4 – main bearing shells, 5 – crankshaft thrust half rings, 5 – oil pump, 6 – oil return line, 7 – gasket, 8 – oil supply line to the pump, 9 – gasket

After removing the halves of the main bearing shells and the crankshaft thrust half rings, the oil separator together with its spring should be removed from the crankcase ventilation system.

Removal the oil separator from the crankcase ventilation system of the CVH engine

Removal and installation the oil pump

Removal and installation the oil pump

1. Drain the oil from the oil pan.

2. Remove the timing belt cover and timing belt.

3. Remove the V-belt pulley, pulley and oil pan from the crankshaft.

4. Unscrew the oil pump mounting bolts and remove the pump.

5. Wash the oil pan and oil filter, then perform the steps in reverse order to the removal process.

6. Put on the timing belt, paying attention to the coincidence of the marks on the crankshaft and camshaft.

Removal the coolant pump

1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery and drain the fluid from the cooling system.

2. Remove the alternator drive V-belt.

3. Rotate the crankshaft until the TDC markings of the 1st cylinder piston on the crankshaft pulley and the timing drive housing coincide, and then remove the timing drive housing.

4. Loosen the tensioner and remove the timing belt.

5. Disconnect the flexible coolant line going to the radiator and the coolant line going to the vehicle's interior heating circuit.

6. Remove the timing belt tensioner.

7. Unscrew the four bolts securing the coolant pump to the engine cylinder block and remove the coolant pump.

Installing a Coolant Pump

1. Clean the gasket mating surface on the coolant pump and engine block.

2. Install a new gasket and bolt the coolant pump to the engine block.

3. Install the timing belt tensioner.

4. Put on the timing belt.

5. Install the timing case cover.

6. Install the alternator drive V-belt and tighten it.

7. Connect the flexible cooling system pipes, fill the cooling system and check its tightness.

Other information regarding the technical characteristics, adjustment and repair of the engine can be found in subsection 2.1 and in subsection 3.1.3.1.
