Please note: Depending on the model, the vehicle may be equipped with a wheel load control system. This system prevents uncontrolled wheel slippage when accelerating the vehicle. Control is performed by braking each wheel separately using the ABS/TCS module. Additionally, if necessary, the engine power is reduced via a control motor that closes the throttle valve despite the accelerator pedal being pressed. There are two gas rods: one rod from the accelerator pedal to the control motor, and the second from the control motor to the throttle lever.
Adjustment, vehicle with a system for regulating the load on the drive wheels
Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
Caution: When the battery is disconnected, the contents of electronic memory devices, such as engine fault codes or radio codes, are erased. Before disconnecting, also read the instructions in the chapter "Removing and installing the battery".
Remove the adjusting brackets from the adjusting elements in front of and behind the control motor. Pull the ends of the cables out of the housings.
Disconnect the multi-pin plug connector at the test motor. Insert suitable pins into the alignment holes of the belt pulleys at the test motor. This locks the belt pulleys.
Pull the throttle rod nipple out of the slot in the segment on the throttle shaft.
Press the accelerator pedal once to the stop and release. This sets the gas thrust between the accelerator pedal and the control electric motor.
Insert the adjusting bracket at the adjusting element in front of the control motor.
Insert the throttle rod nipple into the slot in the segment on the throttle shaft.
Press the accelerator pedal all the way down once more and release it. This sets the gas thrust between the control motor and the throttle valve.
Insert the adjusting bracket into the adjusting element behind the control motor.
Remove the pins from the belt pulleys.
Connect the multi-pin plug connector at the control motor.
Connect the ground (-) wire to the battery. Set the existing clock and enter the anti-theft code for the radio.
Adjustment, vehicle without a wheel load control system
Pull out the adjusting bracket "1" at the throttle rod adjusting element.
Pull out the gas rod "2" at the adjusting element a little.
Press the accelerator pedal all the way down (full throttle) and secure it in this position. To do this, clamp a suitable board between the seat and the accelerator pedal or ask an assistant to hold the pedal
Compress the throttle rod housing at the adjusting element so much that the throttle lever, and for a diesel engine, the fuel injection pump lever, is in the position corresponding to full load. In this position, insert the adjusting bracket again.
Release the accelerator pedal, then press it all the way down again and check whether the throttle lever (for a diesel engine, the fuel injection pump lever) is in contact with the full load stop. If the full load position is not reached, repeat the adjustment.
