Caution: The gas rod is very sensitive to longitudinal fracture, so it must be handled very carefully during installation. One slight longitudinal fracture can later lead to breakage during movement. Therefore, rods that have been bent cannot be installed.
Removal
V6-DOHC engine: Remove 4 engine cover mounting bolts.
Pull out the throttle control element bracket.
Pull the locking bracket "2" upwards, against the direction of the arrow, out of the counter support.
Remove nipple "1" of the throttle rod from the slot of the segment on the throttle shaft. On a diesel engine, press the spherical tip of the throttle rod away from the fuel injection pump lever.
If the gas rod needs to be removed completely, from the passenger compartment side, unfasten the rod nipple from the accelerator pedal. From the engine compartment side, pull the gas rod together with the rubber insert out of the front wall.
Installation
The gas rod is installed in the reverse order. Attach the rubber insert to the front wall. Hang the gas rod first on the accelerator pedal, and then on the segment near the throttle valve.
Slide the rubber insert onto the counter support.
Use the adjusting bracket to adjust the throttle thrust.
V6-DOHC Engine: Tighten the 4 engine cover mounting bolts.
