Removal, installation and adjustment of the hood (Scorpio I)

Withdrawal



Open the engine compartment hood.

Disconnect ground wire (-) battery.

Caution: Disconnecting the battery will erase the contents of the electronic memories, such as engine trouble codes or radio codes. Before switching off, also read the instructions in chapter "Removing and installing the battery".


Mark the mounting position of the hinges. To do this, circle the hinges on the hood with a felt-tip pen.



Detach the washer fluid hose from the one-way valve -A- and detach the hose from the clip -B-.

Disconnect the connector for the engine compartment light.

Unscrew the fastening bolts -C- at the hinges and remove the hood. An assistant is required to perform the operation. Lay fabric between hood and body before releasing the hinge bolts to protect the paintwork.

Installation



Attach the hood of the engine compartment, screw in one fastening bolt on each side and support the hood with its support. Screw in the second fastening bolts and tighten by hand.

Aligned, the hood at the hinges in accordance with the marks made and tighten the fastening bolts to a torque of 25 Nm.


Connect the connector for the engine compartment light.

Attach and connect washer fluid supply hose.

Connect ground wire (-) battery.

If available, set the clock and enter the anti-theft code for the radio.

Adjustment



Carefully close the hood and check that the gap between the hood and the fender is the same and even on both sides. If necessary, slightly loosen the hood fastening bolts and move the hood accordingly. Tighten the fastening bolts to 25 Nm.

Secure the hood with its lock. If the hood does not lock, the hood latch needs to be adjusted.



Using a wrench and a screwdriver, adjust the locking pin so that it is fully engaged in the hood latch and the hood is flush with the top edge of the fenders. You may also need to adjust the position of the rubber buffers.



By turning the rubber buffers in the direction of the arrows, adjust the height of the hood relative to the fenders.
