Bolt for fastening the sprocket and the ignition distributor drive on the camshaft controlling the intake valves
Attention! The cylinder head can only be removed on a cold engine.
1. Remove the negative cable from the battery.
2. On engines with a carburetor, remove the air filter.
3. On engines with a fuel injection system, remove the air intake, high-pressure chamber and air filter.
4. Drain the coolant from the cooling system by unscrewing the plug on the lower right side of the radiator.
5. Disconnect the radiator return hose and the hose connecting to the expansion tank from the cylinder head.
6. Disconnect the coolant supply hose to the heater from the cylinder head.
7. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the head cover.
8. On fuel-injected engines, disconnect the vacuum hoses from the intake manifold.
9. Disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses from the pressure regulator.
10. Disconnect the electrical wires from the radiator fan.
11. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground bus from the left rear of the cylinder head.
12. On engines with a fuel injection system, disconnect and remove the engine management system wires.
13. Disconnect the central high-voltage wire from the ignition coil.
14. Unscrew the upper nut securing the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
15. Raise the front of the vehicle and remove the two lower nuts securing the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
16. Lower the car.
17. Disconnect the high-voltage wires from the spark plugs and remove the distributor cap.
18. Unscrew the spark plugs.
19. Remove the ignition distributor.
20. Disconnect the accelerator pedal cable. In a carburetor engine, unscrew the throttle cable together with the holder, and in a fuel-injected engine, disconnect the rod from the throttle body after removing it from the side of the clamp made of artificial material.
21. When removing the cylinder head with the fuel system and intake manifold, disconnect all wires, hoses and cables, unscrew the nuts securing the intake manifold and fuel baffle.
22. If it is necessary to remove the cylinder head without the fuel system and intake manifold, unscrew the nuts securing the intake manifold and fuel baffle and move them to the side without disconnecting the wires, hoses and cables from them.
23. Unscrew 11 bolts and 4 fastening nuts and remove the cylinder head cover.
24. Remove the timing chain and sprockets (see subsection 3.2.2.1).
25. Gradually and alternately unscrew the nuts and remove the camshaft mounting covers together with the oil supply pipe. The camshaft covers are marked for subsequent reinstallation in their places. If there is no marking, they must be marked before removing the covers.
26. Remove the camshafts from the cylinder head. There is a green mark on the camshaft that controls the exhaust valves. If there is no mark, mark the camshafts.
27. Remove the hydraulic valve lifters and place them in suitable containers with oil for future reinstallation.
28. Gradually and sequentially unscrew the 13 cylinder head mounting bolts in the reverse order of tightening.
Caution: Reusing the cylinder head bolts is not recommended.
29. Remove the cylinder head and place it on two wooden blocks to avoid damaging the valves.
30. Remove the cylinder head gasket and guide bushings.
