Checking the cylinder head (Scorpio 1)

1. Check the flatness of the cylinder head surface mating with the cylinder block using a steel ruler and a set of measuring probes. If the flatness is greater than 0.05 mm, the cylinder head must be replaced.

2. Check the condition and diameter of the camshaft bearings. If the diameter exceeds the maximum size, the cylinder head must be replaced.

3. Check the condition of the camshaft journals and cams.

4. Check the condition of the working surfaces of the hydraulic valve tappets. If they are significantly worn out, a characteristic noise is heard in the upper part of the engine during operation.

5. Check the condition and diameter of the seats for the hydraulic valve lifters. If the diameter of the seats exceeds the maximum size, the cylinder head must be replaced.
