Removal
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.
3. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connector.

CAUTION: If the flexible outlet pipe (flexible insert) is bent too much, it may be damaged, which will eventually lead to failure of the element.
Protect the exhaust system flexible connection by using a suitable housing or busbar as support. Refer to Section 309-00 for additional information.

5. Disconnect the exhaust pipe. Remove the gasket.

6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Disconnect the engine ground cable and the exhaust manifold heat shield.
- 1.Engine ground cable
- 2. Exhaust system heat shield (three bolts)

8. Disconnect the exhaust manifold (shown from below). Remove the gasket.

9. Remove the exhaust manifold.
Installation
1. Pull the exhaust manifold into the engine compartment, working from the top.
2.
NOTE: Use a new exhaust manifold gasket.
Connect the exhaust manifold (shown from below).

3. Connect the exhaust heat shield and engine ground cable.
- 1. Exhaust manifold heat shield (three bolts)
- 2.Engine ground cable

4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.
5. Connect the heated oxygen sensor (CHT) connector.

6. Install the exhaust pipe. Use a new gasket.

7. Disconnect the flexible exhaust pipe support.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.
