Withdrawal


1.
NOTE: Use a socket wrench to prevent the piston rod from turning.


Loosen the top nut of the right suspension strut five turns.



2. Raise the vehicle. See Section 100-02 for more information.

3. Disconnect the right suspension arm.



CAUTION: The inner hinge must not be tilted more than 18 degrees.

NOTE: Do not damage the protective cover.


Disconnect the right front drive shaft from the intermediate shaft.
  • Separate the clamping collar and move the cover back.
  • Remove the front drive shaft from the tripod joint housing.
  • Remove grease.
  • Attach the front drive shaft.



5.
NOTE: Oil leakage



Remove intermediate shaft.
  • Remove the clamp.
  • Remove the intermediate shaft from the gearbox.
  • Plug the gearbox openings.



Installation


1.
CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the oil seal when installing the front drive axle. If an iB5 gearbox is installed, use the mounting sleeve (included with every new oil seal).


Insert the intermediate shaft into the gearbox.



2.
NOTE: Replace clip and nuts on intermediate bearing.


NOTE: Insert the countershaft into the transmission until the countershaft bearing contacts the rib of the countershaft bracket.


Insert the intermediate shaft into the gearbox (continuation).
  • Install the clamp.



CAUTION: The inner hinge must not be tilted more than 18 degrees.



3. Install the front drive shaft.
  • Pack the inner tripod joint with grease. For this purpose, grease for the inner joint is used (filling volumes are specified in ch. "General specifications").

1.Insert a small screwdriver under the lip of the protective boot to purge air.

2.Slide the tripod joint as far as it will go, then pull it out 20 mm.
  • Remove screwdriver.



4. Insert the clamping collar into the groove on the boot and tighten it using the locking clamp.
  • Insert the clamping collar into the groove on the cover.



5. Install the wheel without tightening.



6. Check the transmission fluid level.

7. Lower the car.

8. Tighten the right suspension strut nut.
  • Lock it from turning with a socket wrench.
  • Tighten by hand with a ring wrench.
  • Using a torque wrench, tighten to the correct torque.
